Many people turn to waxing and plucking to get rid of unwanted eyebrow hair, but some suffer unwanted hair loss due to medical conditions, medications or medical treatments such as chemotherapy. When the hair loss is temporary, cosmetic approaches can help. Longer term solutions also are available.
Medications
Medications may be prescribed to treat hair loss above the eyes. The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases says corticosteroids can be injected into the brow area, taken orally or applied as an ointment. New hair growth may appear in one to two months. Topical minoxidil, often known by the brand name Rogaine, may also be used on the brow. With daily use, new hair may growth may appear in about 12 weeks.
